Our integrity, reputation, and attention to detail are key to our success.
After the first few days, we knew we had to move to Colorado. In June 1997 we’d come to visit friends as skeptical tourists, wondering why they moved out here. Then, we immediately fell in love with Colorado and even though we’d been talking about leaving Connecticut for years, we stopped talking and started packing.
While Michael was originally from Canada, Laurie grew up in Connecticut and had taken over the ownership and management of the real estate brokerage started by her mother. For both of us, family was very important but with our older children in college, our younger children moving with us, and Laurie’s mom spending over half of the year in Florida, we had no real ties other than friends in Connecticut. We had talked for years about leaving Connecticut but didn’t know for sure where to go. It was that one trip to Colorado that sealed the deal for us.
We fell in love with the beautiful weather, the mountains, and the friendly people. Michael is a big sports fan and being able to attend major league teams in every sport (Connecticut had no major league teams) was a nice bonus as was being able to golf 12 months of the year! It was perfect! A few months after our trip, we moved.
We moved to Colorado without knowing anyone except those friends we visited on our trip. Michael initially took a job in the not-for-profit world where he had been a fundraiser and administrator for over 20 years. Laurie thought about going back into social work as she has a Master’s in Social Work and had worked in the field for several years before joining her mom’s real estate practice, however, it wasn’t long before she joined Coldwell Banker Realty. She feels it’s not that different from social work in that she is helping people through a major transition in their lives and many of the same skills are needed. Besides, real estate is in her blood as not only her mother, but her brother and aunt are also REALTORS®. Soon after, Michael joined her at Coldwell Banker, and we started The Marcus Team together.
Laurie had always thought that Michael would be a great REALTOR® and after years of talking about it, we decided it was time. Using her mom’s advice, “the only thing you have is your reputation, so don’t screw it up,” we built a successful business. We treat our clients the same as we would members of our family in how we protect and guide them through the process of buying and selling real estate. We’re a family team, with our son Yaron working with us as well, so it’s only natural that our clients soon feel like family.
Our whole lives, we grew up surrounded by loving families and all we ever wanted to do was leave the world a better place than we found it. The best way we’ve discovered to do that is by connecting with others. We love what we do and have been doing it for over three decades. Our favorite part of our job is helping others reach their best lives through real estate. When we’re not working, we enjoy spending time with our kids and grandkids, Laurie plays mahjong, and Michael likes to golf. We also volunteer many hours of our time to various charitable causes.
Buying and selling a home is a big process with a lot of moving parts. That’s why when we work together, you have both of us 100% committed to helping you reach your goals. Each of us has our strengths with Michael’s expertise in contracts and Laurie’s with people, we’ve got you covered every step of the way. Whether you’re just buying your first property or have been an owner for a long time, we look at each transaction from the perspective of a long-term investment. We want you to reach your goals, and that’s why we take the time to help you figure out the best decision to help you build wealth over time. We’re in it for the long haul with our clients and whether we’re helping you, one of your children, or your neighbor or friend, we plan to be seeing a lot of you after all the papers are signed because we’ll be your REALTORS® for life.
Sincerely,
Michael Marcus Laurie Marcus
